This tune and arrangement are my own composition, 'Orinoco'. It's a slow air which I wrote several years ago, and as it's the tune of my own composition that people most often ask me about and request the sheet music for, I thought it would fit in well with my arrangements of traditional tunes.
Like my other arrangements, it is scored for three violins but can also be used as a duet with the second player swapping between different harmony parts.
As well as fiddles, it is possible to play this on other instruments - part 2 fits within the range of a flute or descant recorder, or work on a tin whistle in the key of C (although it will go one note too low for D whistle).
As well as the tune and two harmony parts, there are chords for accompanists (e.g. accordion, guitar, piano, bass).
In my recording I play the tune three times - the first time alone, the second with part 2, and the third with parts 2 and three together.
You can hear an extended arrangement of this tune on my album 'The Morning' -

*NEW!* This download now also includes a bonus score for string quartet. I have added a cello part, and provided the viola part as either alto clef (viola) or treble clef (violin 3). There is also an alto clef version of the cello part up an octave for a viola to play if needed. The string quartet score includes individual instrumental parts.
PLEASE NOTE: the recordings and midi files included are just for the violin trio arrangement. The string quartet score is a bonus item which was added later and has not been recorded.
I have a growing collection of other sheet music arrangements scored similarly - you can browse the full list at
