This is a collection of sheet music for my own original compositions, presented in their simplest form: melody and chords, for viola and accompanist. These tunes are the basis for many of my full arrangements, which can be heard on my albums 'The Woods and the Waterside' and 'The Morning'.

You'll receive scores for each of the melodies which you can hear in the demonstration tracks (which are excerpts from the full album tracks, cropped to demonstrate the amount of music in the scores, i.e. the basic melody). The scores are written in alto clef for the viola.

**** Please note:

* the demo recordings are from the violin version. The melodies in this viola version have been transposed down by a 5th, so that they fit on the viola in 1st position.
* the piano parts that you can hear in the recordings are for the purpose of demonstrating the chord symbols that are included on the scores. There are no scored piano parts included in the sheet music.

I mostly haven't transcribed the ornaments I play - only those that actually form part of the tune as I intend it. This is to encourage people to add their own twiddles, rather than copying mine exactly. Ornaments are a personal stylistic thing, and I sometimes find that trying to recreate someone else's rather than ornamenting a tune in the way I would naturally do it can interrupt the flow and make it sound a bit wooden. The same goes for bowings. These melodies are just the bones of the music, to be interpreted as you like. In a full arrangement I would normally play each one multiple times, as you can hear in my arrangements on the two albums:
