This is my three part harmony arrangement of the traditional tune from Cornwall "Helston Furry Dance". When you buy this download, you'll receive a pdf of the sheet music, scored for three violins with chords. You also get a midi file, and "practise mixes" with the harmony parts turned up louder to aid practise and learning.
This tune is used as the processional music in the annual May celebration in the town of Helston, Cornwall (you can read all about this custom here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furry_Dance ). Not to be confused with the song "Floral Dance", popularised by Terry Wogan in the 1970s, this is the traditional tune which the song is thought to be based on.
In my version, I've arranged the main theme in the key of G major. This is followed by a middle-eight section (newly composed by me), which leads into a key change, and the main tune played in A major.
I have many more arrangements of traditional music, scored for the same instruments - have a look on my "sheet music" page at
www.georgianettleton.com/celtic-sheet-music.php .
*NEW!* This download now also includes a bonus score for string quartet. I have added a cello part, and provided the viola part as either alto clef (viola) or treble clef (violin 3). There is also an alto clef version of the cello part up an octave for a viola to play if needed. The string quartet score includes individual instrumental parts.
PLEASE NOTE: the recordings and midi files included are just for the violin trio arrangement. The string quartet score is a bonus item which was added later and has not been recorded.
