This comes with the sheet music for my three part harmony arrangement of the traditional American folk tune 'Old Joe Clark'.
This is an easy tune to play, so good for beginners, and the harmony and bass parts are also not difficult. It would suit a fiddle group of beginner/intermediate players who want to start playing harmonies together.
This can, like all of my arrangements, be played as a duet or trio for violins. However, in this series of harmonies that I'm working on at the moment, the lowest part is written with cello or viola in mind, so it can be played on various instrument combinations that include viola or cello.
NEW: I've now added bonus scores for string quartet.
You'll get three trio scores and three quartet scores with this download:
* Two violins and cello
* Two violins and viola
* Violin trio
* String quartet (two violins, viola and cello)
* Three violins and cello
* Three violins and viola
Not all parts have to be played at once - the harmonies can be used as duets, so it works fine as a violin and cello duet, violin and viola duet, or fiddle duet.
You can hear the different parts in the recording above: first time, I play the tune with the violin harmony part, then the tune with the cello/viola part, and then all three parts together.
Also included are "practise mixes", which are audio tracks for each harmony part with the tune turned down and the harmony part turned up louder, to help with learning and memorising the harmonies.
NOTE: the recordings in this download are only for the trio version; the quartet scores were added as a bonus item and have not been recorded. However, the trio recordings should give you a rough idea of how the quartet versions sound.
I have lots more harmony arrangements of traditional and some of my own tunes - see
