This piece is my own original composition, a tune called "The Hidden Guppy" which I wrote when I was 18. It's named after a tiny baby guppy in our tropical fish tank which hid behind some plants to avoid being gobbled up by the adult fish in the tank. This one survived in its hiding place until it was big enough not to be eaten.
The rhythm is not that of a typical, traditional celtic-type tune - this one explores alternating bars of 6/8 and 3/4, so the rhythm is similar to that of the song "America" from West Side Story.
It's arranged in four part harmony. It can be used as a duet, trio, string quartet or with larger groups.
In the demo recording I play the tune once on its own, then once with part 2 and the bass part added, and then all four parts at once. You can choose which parts to play when, and make your own arrangements with the harmonies as you prefer.

With this download, you'll receive sheet music scores in a variety of formats:
* string quartet
* violin trio with cello
* violin trio with viola (cello part transcribed up an octave)
Each score also includes chords for an accompanist, e.g. guitar or piano.
This makes them versatile as you can use the harmony parts with different groups of instruments, from a violin duet or violin and cello duet (for example) up to a large string ensemble.
By picking different parts, you can play them on any of the following instrument combinations:
* Violin duet
* Violin trio
* Violin trio and cello
* Violin duet and cello
* Violin and cello
* Violin trio and viola
* Violin duet and viola
* Violin and viola
* Two violins and two violas
...or even
* String quartet
You'll also receive recordings:
* The demo recordings of the different harmony parts as heard above
* "Practise mixes". These are recordings with each harmony part turned up in the mix, and the tune turned down, which can be helpful to people who learn mostly by ear.
I have lots more harmony arrangements of traditional and celtic music available on my website:
